Most of us look up to successful people like Steve Jobs, Jack Ma, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk and wonder – what are their secrets to success? How did they reach the goals they have set? How did they get to where they are now? Today, I will be sharing with you 5 tips for your success in business from the prominent names in the industry.

Pursue your passion

Starting a business is not going to be easy. There will be times when you will encounter huge roadblocks and you will start to question yourself, your abilities, and if all the effort really is worth it. That is why it is important to pursue what you are passionate about – the things, the vision, and the goal you will not give up on no matter how hard it gets. Pursuing your passion also means that you know the ins and outs of the business you are about to embark on. As Jeff Bezos, the Founder, CEO, and President of Amazon said, “If you don’t understand the details of your business, you are going to fail.”

Avoid complaining

The path leading to success will be full of setbacks, challenges, and obstacles which will slow you down or even make you take a detour. No matter what you go through, never complain. Always look for solutions to the problems you encounter instead of whining and curling in one corner. Your mindset affects your character, and your character affects your life. As Jack Ma, the Head and Co-Founder of the Alibaba Group said, “On the path to success, you will notice that the successful ones are not whiners, nor do they complain often.”

Don’t be afraid to fail

Most people have big dreams but decide not to take the risk because they are afraid to fail. Remember that failure is an essential part of success because if you haven’t failed, it means you haven’t tried. Many people decide to stay inside the walls of their comfort zones because it is safe and familiar, what they don’t realize is, staying in their comfort zones means they are stagnant and they will not reach the peak of success by doing so. As Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, Tesla, and the Co-Founder of PayPal said, “Failure is an option here. If things are not failing, you are not innovating.”

Sorround yourself with the right people

Who you surround yourself with plays an important role in determining your success. Spend time with like-minded people – those who have the same goals as you, and watch yourself be more motivated to work on your goals. However, if you surround yourself with lazy people and those who are happy to settle with what is, then you will slowly lose the drive to work on your goals. As Bill Gates, the Co-Founder of Microsoft said, “Surround yourself with people who challenge you, teach you, and push you to be your best self.”

Dream big

Never let others tell you that your dreams are too big or that your goals are way out of reach. Always remember that most things seem impossible until it’s done. Don’t expect other people to understand your hustle when God didn’t give them your vision. Work on your goals no matter how hard and no matter how impossible it may seem for others. As Steve Jobs, the Chairman, Founder and CEO of Apple and the Chairman of Pixar said, “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”
