Are you one of those who just started working as a freelancer? You’re probably worried if by now, you still haven’t got any clients lined up. Fret not – today, I will be sharing with you 5 ways to build your client base!
The hardest thing about working as a freelancer is to build your client base from scratch. Nowadays, you have to compete with those who are already experts in the industry in the hopes of gaining a new client.
Here are 5 proven ways to build your client base:
Register on freelance sites.
Believe it or not, the first step to building your client list is by registering for various freelance sites. Most of the time, this is where you will gain clients who are looking for the set of skills that you have. Don’t just settle for one freelance site – register to as many as you can! Continuously send proposals and put yourself out there!
Give quality work.
Whether it is an article, a graphic design, or managing a client’s social media page, always see to it that the work you will be submitting is of quality. This will help you earn your client’s trust and who knows, they might even put up a good word for you. Always remember that the quality of your work reflects your personality.
Don’t miss deadlines.
Missing deadlines is one of the things which will cost you your client’s trust and confidence. This shows that you’re either not taking the job seriously, or that you simply don’t care about your client’s needs. If you need an extension, make sure to inform your client beforehand. As much as possible, do your best not to miss the deadlines set.
Ask for a feedback.
Ask your client for honest feedback because this is very helpful especially when you are just starting. If other interested clients see that you have positive feedback from your former clients, chances are, they would want to work with you. Just make sure to display honest and authentic feedback from your clients and not made up ones.
Return their loyalty.
If you already have a recurring client, reward their loyalty by giving them discounts every once in a while. This is a way of showing that you are thankful for their continued trust in you and they might even put in a good word for you.
