Steve Jobs – the name looked up to by many, especially those in the business industry. How did a college drop out become successful, and how did he create a profitable business from his parents’ garage?
Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco California. At a young age, he has been regarded as an exceptional student. It has been determined that he has an IQ of 160 – the same with that of Einstein’s. At 4th grade, his intelligence level was determined to be that of a Highschool Sophomore. He dropped out of college because he believed that he should take courses that are “interesting”, hence, he opted to take calligraphy classes instead of attending the classes he was supposed to take.
In 2003, Steve Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He died on October 5, 2011, at the age of 56. Even though he passed away, the legacy he left behind continues. His passion to make a dent in the universe has outlived him and continuously inspires many aspiring entrepreneurs up to this day.
What are the beliefs he held which made him successful in business?
Pursue your passion
Don’t let anyone stop you from pursuing what you want. Most of the people who became successful are those who followed their passion because if you only settle for what is, then you won’t have the courage to take the necessary risks in order to make your goals a reality.
Dream big
Never let anyone tell you that your goals are impossible to achieve. Remember, it always seems impossible until it’s done. Have an innovative mind, and strive to make the impossible, possible.
Use your time wisely
Time is free, but it is priceless. No amount of money can ever replace the time you have wasted so make sure to make use of it wisely. You can make up for your financial losses, but you can never recover time once it has passed.
Always persevere
If you really want to succeed, you must persevere. There is no such thing as an overnight success because whether you like it or not, there is no shortcut – you will have to take the long way. Usually, the road to success is full of roadblocks and you will encounter setbacks, probably even hit rock bottom. But you have to remember that the best thing about hitting rock bottom is that there is no other way to go but up.
Believe in yourself
When people tell you that “you can’t”, look them in the eye and say “watch me.” People may tell you that you aren’t good enough, that you’re limited, and that you don’t have “potential”. Your job is not to prove those who don’t believe in you wrong but to prove those who believe in you that they are right in doing so. Let others doubt you, but never doubt yourself and your abilities.
Never settle with what you know
If you will settle with what you know and not make an effort to innovate, then you will always be stuck in the same place. The key to success is to be bold and to take risks. Always have the hunger to learn more and always push yourself to be better than you were yesterday.
Be an inspiration to others
The only thing we can leave behind when we come to pass that will always be traced back to us is our LEGACY. Ask yourself this question: “If I come to pass today, how will people remember me?” Will you be remembered because you are rich? Will you be remembered because you are famous? Or will you be remembered because you made an impact on the lives of those around you? This is the quality of a great leader – they inspire everyone around them to always strive to be a better person.
